Empowering Musicians with Disabilities
About
Lagond Music School is a non-profit organization dedicated to excellence in music education and live performance. Founded in 2002 by Charlie Lagond and Rosanne Lana in Westchester County, New York, the school is committed to fostering talent and creating opportunities for musicians of all backgrounds.
One of its most impactful initiatives, Power Through Performance (PTP), is designed to make music education and professional opportunities more accessible for musicians with disabilities. Through tailored mentorship, specialized education, and paid performance opportunities, PTP not only fosters inclusivity but also ensures that these musicians have a rightful place in the music industry.
PTP musicians are driven by the same passion and ambition as any other aspiring artists. For them, music is not just a hobby—it’s a career. Many have dedicated over 20 years to honing their craft, often in isolation, due to the lack of mainstream opportunities. While they respect traditional employment paths available to individuals with disabilities, they aspire to something beyond those stereotypes. For them, there is no "Plan B"—only music.
Power Through Performance is more than a program; it’s a movement. It’s about breaking barriers, fostering inclusion, and providing meaningful career-building opportunities in the music industry. Some of these musicians have what it takes to integrate into the mainstream, while others will thrive within a uniquely supportive community—a "league of their own."
If you believe in a world where artistic expression transcends boundaries, you can make a difference. Whether by offering paid performance opportunities, contributing financially, or hosting a fundraiser, your support helps ensure these musicians receive the recognition they deserve.
They’ve earned it.
